How do you cut curly hair?
Curls are cut dry as they fall naturally to ensure each unique curl lays exactly as it should. This allows me to visually see exactly how that curl falls compared to others around it, unlike traditional haircuts which stretch curls causing them to shrink up unpredictably.
What training do you have to be able to offer this cut?
As the first Deva Inspired Stylist in Iowa I have traveled to New York's Deva Academy in 2012 and 2013 for hands on training in Deva's acclaimed cutting style. Toward the end of 2013 I was invited to join Curly Hair Artistry, a group of 100+ curl specialists from across the world and attended the 2014 Fall Symposium in Detroit, MI for three days of intense hands on training working exclusively on live models. In 2016 I again traveled to the Deva Academy- this time in Culver City, California to gain experience in Deva's color service- Pintura. Most recently, I was able to train at the Curl Lab Chicago and became a Cut It Kinky Certified Artist expanding my knowledge of tightly curled, highly textured hair.
How should I arrive for my Curly cut?
Arrive with your hair down, dry, and in it's natural, curly state. You may use your usual products, lightly. No hair spray or ponytails, please. Allow up to two hours for your first appointment.
We understand that sometimes schedule adjustments are necessary; therefore, we respectfully request at least 48 hours notice for cancelations. Less than 48 hours notice will result in a charge equal to 50% of the service amount. Any appointment not canceled prior to the start of the scheduled time will be considered a "no show" and will be charged 100% of the service fee.
